Somewhere in Between

Hey You! If all of a sudden, you ever had an urgent need to ask me what I find the most enjoyable about blogging, I would definitely say meeting new people and making new friendships. I moved to London just with my boyfriend, leaving all my old life and friends behind me...

And that was one of the primary reasons for me to start blogging, engaging in blogger communities, shyly exchanging first emails, simply getting to know more people. I've been blogging for nearly 7 years now and there wasn't a single moment I regretted that decision. I am in my late twenties now. Some people state, the older you are, the harder it is to find real friends, but that's not an issue in my case.

Me, rather an introvert person, find opportunities to meet some lovely, talented, inspiring people on a weekly basis. Sometimes we just meet for a coffee, they send me lovely, often pretty personal messages or come up with an idea of taking pictures of me. And this is how I met Kat, not only an adorable, chatty and open-minded person but also a very talented photographer and an illustrator. Sometimes people enter your house, you see them for the first time in your life and it just clicks. Do you know what I am talking about? It appeared that we have lots in common and there were no awkward silence moments. We both are vegan so I introduced her to one of my favourite places in West London/Ealing where you can eat healthy yet delicious lunch choosing from various buffet options.

I don't remember the process of taking the pictures, it just happened somewhere in between.

Pink

Can anyone here explain what's going on here? :) I used to hate pink and now most of my new purchases, whether it's homeware or clothes, are in this colour. But I find my way of wearing pink by trying to tame it a bit.

Firstly, I love to mix it with chunky shoes, boyfriend jeans, making the whole outfit a little more masculine (maybe not in that case:)).

Secondly, I can't get tired of mixing pinks with reds, even if it the red is only on my lips.

I love this Missguided faux fur coat. It's so cosy and I love its slightly oversized fit! I feel a bit like a teddy bear in it, but at least, it makes my legs looking much slimmer. :)

Plant Family

It's not even 4pm while I am writing this text and it's already getting dark. I am listening to Michael Buble Christmas album on repeat. Beside me there is a pile of used tissues and a huge bottle of vitamin C. November hasn't been good to me. I have spent lots of time at the doctors' and lying in bed.

But there were also a few things I thoroughly enjoyed this month:

* World Press Photo exhibition.

* The Lady in the Van movie.

* Growing my plant family.

* Reading plenty of good books.

*Endless conversations with my mum and friends on Skype.

I wanted to do a wishlist post, considering all these Black Friday offers, but watching a few videos and reading about people who were injured or even died because of shopping hysteria discouraged me completely. I cannot imagine any other way then shopping online during this period.

I think I didn't let myself to get carried away too much and bought only three things I'd been wanting for a long time.

Compromise

This post represents well how we usually spend our weekends and by WE, I mean my boyfriend and I. We've been together for nearly 10 years and although we sometimes argue like crazy and been through some difficult times I can still certainly say he is my most favourite person in the world to spend time with.

So there is only one Sunday. That's a fact. The time on Sundays flies faster than during any other days. This is a personal opinion but I think lots of you will agree with me. One Sunday. So little time. So we need to compromise (which I do not find hard at all) and divide the hours between both of us.

His part is ALWAYS the same. We go somewhere to look for some old records. If it's spring or summer, we usually go to car boots and other vintage fairs which I LOVE a lot. When it becomes colder, we stick to indoors record fairs. The one in Olympia Central is my favourite because they have a lovely cafe that sells fair trade coffee, where I can sit down, drink a beverage, watch the streets and read books.

My part often differs and depends on my current mood, friends' recommendations, ideas etc. It might be going to a cinema, visiting a gallery or going to a new vegan restaurant and this is exactly what happened this time. I've been wanting to visit 222 Veggie Vegan for so long since I read so many good reviews and they offer our favourite option, a buffet that has a wide variety of tempting dishes. It's a pretty small spot and it was very busy when we arrived but the staff working there was doing everything to keep everybody happy and there was no delays etc. What's more the food was delicious yet healthy. They state on their website that they use only natural ingredients, everything is freshly prepared and they never deep-fry or microwave. Sounds good, doesn't it? The place is definitely one of the best vegan/vegetarian restaurants in London I've been to so I highly recommend it.

Birmingham

So, yup, as you can guess from the title, I went to Birmingham last Saturday to visit my friend Magda
I think we can say that the adventure started on a bus, or a minute before when I was running late because I had had to go wee so once I got on the bus, the only place left was at the back, next to a Welsh lady. I cannot sit at the back because I suffer from a motion sickness and I was a bit scared cause I find it a bit difficult to understand Welsh accent. But as usually, there wasn't any reason to be so anxious because the lady appeared to be so lovely that she was giving me a mint each time we were going through a bumpy road and I was starting to feel sick.

Between feeling like I wanted to puke and sucking the mints, I read some interesting facts about Birmigham and I thought I might share some of them with you.

1) So did you know that Brum is the greenest European city, with lots of parks?

2) Apparently, it's also the youngest city in Europe. People under 25's make up 40% of the population of the city.

3) The city has more canals than Venice!

4) Tolkien wrote Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit in Birmingham.

5) And the most interesting one left, as usually, at the end: it has more lap dancing clubs than any other city in the UK.

I probably should had already known that before but Magda also informed me that Birmigham is the second biggest city in England. Pardon my ignorance.

We met with Magda in front of St Martin in the Bull Ring church, which apparently is the main point of the city and where friends usually meet. Then we had a not-that-short lunch in Pret where I had a chance to try a new vegan sandwich with artichokes, roasted red peppers and spinach which was scrumptious and I challenged myself, rather my shyness to be precise, and asked strangers to charge my phone. We also talked, talked and talked - this is what usually happens to us when we meet, we basically cannot stop talking. Then we took a stroll through some random streets, soaking up the real feel of the city - the way of sightseeing I like the most.

So, as I already mentioned before, we might have talked a bit too long cause we found ourselves with very little time left to explore the city fully but we found a few real gems.

One of them was Braderie, a vintage shop with a great selection of clothes, nicely segregated into categories and with some very kind and helpful ladies working there.

Magda also took me to the Jewellery Quarter which is apparently the biggest European concentration of jewellery shops and traders. We didn't buy much jewellery though.

There were much more plans. Magda wanted to show me the canals and the library... but you know what? It's ok because it means I will have to visit Brum again soon and that's also ok because I really liked this industrial city.

IRONIC

Isn't that ironic that I have just mentioned I am not that into fashion anymore and today I am taking you with me for a little trip to a pretty show room where SS16 Black PR Press Day was held? But AGAIN, there were three good reasons why I decided to go. Firstly, an email, with the invite I received, sounded promising and interesting. Secondly, it was a great opportunity for Aga and I to have both some "me time" and a proper girls' date. Last but not least to get some FREE popcorn. I do not regret my decision AT ALL. I saw many pretty things, drank a lovely yet mysterious drink and had a great time with a friend.

. When it comes to the presentation, I fell in love with Victoria Irving (minimalist elegance with a creative touch) and Beau Homme (contemporary and aesthetic menswear) collections. And jewellery, ohhh JEWELLERY... Mirabelle (beautiful crystal stones pendants, talismans, lots of gold and vintage style jewellery) and Only Child (stunning, eye-catching statement pieces) instantly stole my heart and swept me off my feet. I could take nearly each single piece back home with me.
